The amendment disproportionately affects younger workers, who are rather at the bottom of the scale. The proposal was rejected by members at a plenary meeting on 28 September. Shell made a final counter-offer in early November, which was also rejected. An overwhelming majority of members rejected the offer, saying Shell was not serious about resolving the dispute. Members believe that there are insurmountable differences between the parties and are ready to take steps to issue an ultimatum to Shell. FNV members have opposed a one-time payment proposed by the company as a sweetener and are demanding a better pay slip and maintaining the budget for the payment of advanced salaries. . . .
