Free Trade Agreement Indonesia Japan
The agreement was reached with the aim of encouraging cross-border flows of goods and people as well as investment between the two countries. Such trade liberalization, including the elimination of import duties on most export products, should benefit both countries (Indonesia and Japan are important trading partners). The agreement also smoothed Japan`s foreign direct investment (FDI) in Indonesia (Japan was one of the largest investors in Indonesia). Finally, the IJEPA was also conceived as a springboard for broader regional cooperation with the ASEAN+ agreements, APEC and the WTO Doha Agenda. . . .
